Let’s Pray in the Light

Heavenly Father,

You say whatever is brought into the light becomes light. Lord, as easy as that sounds, there is much vulnerability and honesty required. There is a feeling of insecurity that runs through our veins. There is a battle of readiness that we don’t even want to face. Yet, we long for the light in our area of darkness.

Back and forth we rage.

Lord God,

In Your presence

wrapped in Your love

I pray you will shine your light upon_______________. Father, just saying this truth cause my words to faulter, my heart to skip a beat of regret. I know you are not surprised but I am. I am not used to expressing my inner truths to anyone’s ears, let alone my God’s ears.

Lord, I pray you will settle my thoughts right now. I ask that you will speak truth over my words. Help me to listen to you right now.

Sweet Father, I pray for confidence in this time with you. I know me. I know the cycle that is going to come. I know. Please teach me a new cycle. Help me to rise above what I know and learn a response that is of You. May I grow to be stronger in this area.

Thank you for hearing my words. Thank you for trusting me with yours. And thank you for walking with me. Lord, I feel your forgiveness and confidence. May these two things light my heart, my soul, my day, my path.

Selah.

Rise Above the Fog

In the midst of today we rise higher than we thought we could. Each day ending in confusion, defeat, frustration. Yet a new day begins, and we get up and we go. We get things accomplished, we assign tasks to others, we communicate, we achieve. Repeat.

Well done.

Truly, in the midst of today you are rising higher simply by your determination and character. You know you can quit. All the things. We always have the choice to leave. Leave home. Leave work. Leave life.

I’m proud of us.

In the midst of today we are here. We are standing with a determination to do another day. We may not express it with our words, but our faithful, redundant, familiar motions are screaming forth our determination.

Stand tall on that accomplishment.

And breathe.

Friend, you are not alone. Do you know this truth? Sure, there are times (days/seasons) that the feeling of being alone overwhelms our soul. But I ask you to rise above. In the smallest way, rise above. There is a person outside your home that needs your smile.

We think, “the people in my home need my smile.” And the overwhelmed loneliness washes over us once again.

This is why I am asking you to rise above. In the midst of your motions will you seek out a person outside your home? Share your smile with a person and when a smile is returned, receive it. There’s medicine there! A smile shared and received is medicine for our minds, for our emotions, and for our bodies.

Smile with a person.

Allow that smile to grow into a conversation. *be careful not to dump all your cards 😉 But lay down one statement and see if you can trust that friend with your truth. If you cannot then congratulations on your discernment and strength. Be proud of that. And smile.

Move forward.

Your end goal: find that person -that in their smile and conversation- will remind you of truths. Truths about that person/those people at home who need your smile. Allow this person to help you stand in the fog. Allow this person to walk with you as the fog lifts slowly, day by day. Allow this person to remind you of who you are and what Today is all about.

Life.

A friend is a powerhouse of strength and laughter. She is medicine for your soul.

There is truth to stand on and a smile waiting for your soul. Are you willing to rise above the fog and seek it out? I pray that you are.

What is the Connection in Prayer?

Let’s Pray for our Fasting Life

Heavenly Father, May I pause for a moment to pray for my Fasting life and for the Fasting lives of my dear friends?

Lord God, will you settle our minds when we hear this word? Will you remove the weighty stipulations that we preconceive each time you call us to fast? Will you fill us with your peace and thanksgiving in place of our self doubt?

Lord, to fast with you is to spend deeper time with you.

May that statement be the starting point of our Fasting Life. May we see your desire for our full attention as an open door to simply…be with You.

All too often, we see Fasting as something too big and unattainable. When, Lord, Fasting is you and me. May we sit in that truth. And, Father, help us to grow in Fasting as we are/where we are. Will you guide our time together? Please teach us what our Fasting Life looks like. May it be more about your words over us and less about “what we can do or not do.” Simply, You.

I pray we will see our Fasting Life as a starting point to hearing your voice. That we will become more familiar with your words for us. And that we will be able to discern your voice above our inner thoughts and above the noise of the world.

Whether we fast with you for one hour or two, whether we spend a half a day or a full day, whether we set weekly dates or monthly, I pray we will practice this intentional time with you so we may know You. Selah.

Above all else, may I say Thank You. Thank you for giving us the opportunity to talk to you about all things and in all ways. Thank you for seeing us as the individual daughters that we are. Thank you for not being a God of expectations and obligations but of freedom and of love. And thank you for always drawing us into your arms, into your thoughts, and before your Throne.

It is before you that I pray for Fasting today.

Amen
