Let’s Pray against Fear

My Sweet Lord,

Father, I knew fear was bound to slip into my thought life as I prepare to teach on fear versus Your Love later this week. And it did. My dreams last night shook me to waking tears. My thoughts naturally settle in an old, familiar place as the nausea of things past sit with me in the present.

Father, I do not miss this old, familiar place.

In my fight, my head hurts.

In my fight, Scripture rages.

In my fight, I equally crave sleep all the while I disdain the thought of returning to ill dreams.

Lord, may I just sit here with you? Selah

Father, I knew fear would slip into my thought life. Yet, Lord God, I knew you would too! How faithful you are to restore your Words hidden on my heart. How true you are to capture my thoughts and sing songs of victory over it. How beautiful you are to gift girlfriends who rise up in prayer and understanding.

Father, I do love this new, familiar place.

In your presence, I rest.

In your presence, I find strength and resolve.

In you presence, I joy once again.

Lord, in you I am free.

Father, I pray for those who are battling fear right now. Lord, fear is born in many situations. Yet, it haunts us all the same. Will you, I pray, rehearse truth and purity, goodness and gentleness, Scripture and songs of victory, laughter and love upon her heart and in her thoughts this very moment.

Father, teach her a new cycle from old patterns to newness in You.

In you, may she remember who she is. (1 Cor. 3)

In you, help her fight to win. (Rom. 4)

In you, teach her to stand beside her friends, Sword in hand, claiming victory. (Eph.6)

Lord, shine your face upon her today. (Psalm 31)

Fear. Cast it out, we unite in prayer, in the name of Jesus Christ! Fear. You have no place. No right. No reign.

Prayer for Persecution

Dear God Almighty,

I come before your Throne in humble adoration. My heart is yours. My words are Yours. Father God, this very time in prayer is yours. Lord, pour out the words You would have our hearts pray for today. Selah

God, persecution is real. This heartache is happening throughout your created world. Brothers and sisters being imprisoned and abused and murdered for believing in Jesus Christ. Just for believing on Jesus. This concept is heartbreaking. Yet, it is the purest display of the evidential proof that Jesus truly is the name above all names. For if it were not true then why is there such hated and fear when others demonstrate love and adoration to His Name?

Why is Your Name so despised?

Jesus, the same name that causes my heart to catch its breath each time I hear it is the same name that causes a human to cring and deflect pain upon another human. How is that possible? Why is the emotion of Your Name so great? What is it about your name?

Jesus

Scripture is flooding my soul with the written answers of old. From Old Testament prophecies to written events throughout the New Testament to historical records that coincide with news headlines around the world.

Jesus

The sweetest name I know.

A stumbling block to some. A cornerstone to others.

Resurrected Son of God. Threat to a broken society.

King of kings and Lord of lords. Compitition to religion.

A light in the darkness! A light to the dark.

A healer of wounds. A reveler of truth.

A comfort to sorrow. A promised vengence.

A narrow road.

A promised path.

Truth.

Life

Life worth living.

Life worth dying for.

Jesus, your name is powerfully intimidating to the soul who desires power and authority. Your name gets in their way. Your name alone causes their quieted heart to question themselves. Your name pricks their inner core. Your name offers something that they can not attain on their own. Therefore, your name causes them to feel weak and powerless.

But Your Name is mighty to save. Your Name lifts up and strengthens. Your Name allows your church to be a light on the hill. Your Name shines! It shines through the very creation that calls upon Your Name. That Shine cannot be hidden, it cannot be erased. It cannot be quenched or silenced or darkened or lost.

Jesus Christ, I am your follower. I stand on that cornerstone. And I walk with my brothers and sisters. And I pray, God Almighty, for protection upon those who are being persecuted for Your name this very minute. Stop, I pray, the hands that harm your children right now, I pray this in the power of Your Most Powerful Name, Jesus! Silence the words of hatred that are spilling out upon your followers this day!

And Father God save the soul of the one who hates your Son’s name.

Amen.

Prayer for Churches

Lord God,

Father, I pray for churches this morning. I pray for the people that gather together within these buildings. I pray for the men who open your Word week after week. I pray for those who lead worship. I pray for those who love on and care for the babies, the children, and the teens. I pray for hands that clean. For feet that lead. For hearts that pour out. For the ones that pray. For the shoulders that carry the tears that are shed. I pray for the Women who love one another. For the men who hold each other in accountability. For The church that opens its doors for us to gather and Unite and love and live and serve and Worship and grow and stand. Oh, I pray for our churches!

Father, I pray for churches in light of lockdowns. God, this is gross and an abuse of power. Lord, I pray for confident wisdom for these preachers as they make the decision to stand on Biblical truth and American freedom. I pray for the staff of elders and deacons to uphold Scripture as they support and defend the choice to stand, to remain open, to proclaim Scripture, to live in the land of the free and in the home of the brave.

Father, I feel like I’m proclaiming my personal conviction in this prayer, and perhaps I am. But I pray you will take my prayer of personal conviction and pour it out upon the church that is in need of confirmation or encouragement or boldness or strength or comfort.

Lord, we are not called to sit. We are called to serve, to shine your Light in a darkened world. And when our world is setting a precident of fear and separation and silence and darkness and compliance, ugh, my whole heart hurts.

Father God, equip your saints for such a time as this. 2020 was confusing and odd. 2021 is going to prove to be a battle. I firmly believe this. In this, I pray that you will speak with each of your called pastors and leaders and teachers and men and women and youth and churches (your body of Christ) and prepare each and every one of us to know fully where we stand as Christians in today’s world. Tell us what is required of us that we may be ambassadors of the Kingdom of God to the dark world around us.

Lord, I pray these things in the leading of the Holy Spirit.

I pray these words will be cast before Your Throne.

I pray You will hear and respond according to Your will and in Your way.

I pray our hearts and ears will be open to Your leading.

I pray we will all walk in accordance to Your direction.

I pray we will not judge one another for our various actions and convictions.

Rather, I pray we will uphold and support one another knowing that our cities and our audiences and our impact vary.

I pray above all else that the name of Jesus Christ will shine brighter and farther than any of our words or actions or convictions ever could.

All these things are prayed in the sweet name of Jesus,

Forever and always Amen & Amen!
