Prayer for Churches

Lord God,

Father, I pray for churches this morning. I pray for the people that gather together within these buildings. I pray for the men who open your Word week after week. I pray for those who lead worship. I pray for those who love on and care for the babies, the children, and the teens. I pray for hands that clean. For feet that lead. For hearts that pour out. For the ones that pray. For the shoulders that carry the tears that are shed. I pray for the Women who love one another. For the men who hold each other in accountability. For The church that opens its doors for us to gather and Unite and love and live and serve and Worship and grow and stand. Oh, I pray for our churches!

Father, I pray for churches in light of lockdowns. God, this is gross and an abuse of power. Lord, I pray for confident wisdom for these preachers as they make the decision to stand on Biblical truth and American freedom. I pray for the staff of elders and deacons to uphold Scripture as they support and defend the choice to stand, to remain open, to proclaim Scripture, to live in the land of the free and in the home of the brave.

Father, I feel like I’m proclaiming my personal conviction in this prayer, and perhaps I am. But I pray you will take my prayer of personal conviction and pour it out upon the church that is in need of confirmation or encouragement or boldness or strength or comfort.

Lord, we are not called to sit. We are called to serve, to shine your Light in a darkened world. And when our world is setting a precident of fear and separation and silence and darkness and compliance, ugh, my whole heart hurts.

Father God, equip your saints for such a time as this. 2020 was confusing and odd. 2021 is going to prove to be a battle. I firmly believe this. In this, I pray that you will speak with each of your called pastors and leaders and teachers and men and women and youth and churches (your body of Christ) and prepare each and every one of us to know fully where we stand as Christians in today’s world. Tell us what is required of us that we may be ambassadors of the Kingdom of God to the dark world around us.

Lord, I pray these things in the leading of the Holy Spirit.

I pray these words will be cast before Your Throne.

I pray You will hear and respond according to Your will and in Your way.

I pray our hearts and ears will be open to Your leading.

I pray we will all walk in accordance to Your direction.

I pray we will not judge one another for our various actions and convictions.

Rather, I pray we will uphold and support one another knowing that our cities and our audiences and our impact vary.

I pray above all else that the name of Jesus Christ will shine brighter and farther than any of our words or actions or convictions ever could.

All these things are prayed in the sweet name of Jesus,

Forever and always Amen & Amen!

Father,

My heart is uncertain of its emotions. It’s tired of this battle of uncertainty, it’s exhausted of this continuation of ups and downs. Yet, Lord, as I expressed my exhaustion even this very minute, my heart paused before You and smiled at the truth You pressed on my mind that quickly.

“Jaclyn, I have given you ups in the midst of downs. And your downs are open doors for me to pour out that many more blessings.

Father God, how I needed this time with You. For five hours I have been processing my thoughts of Idaho’s newest return to Phase Three. For five hours I have been turning circles in my mind and thoughts and prayers and frustrations and concerns. Then I sit in the silence of Your full presence and instantly You whisper my name and Your truth upon my soul. And I breathe. And I smile. And I shake my head at my inner struggle and at Your mighty power.

All to you I surrender.

All to you I freely give.

I will ever love and trust You.

In your presence I will live.

Here I sit remembering again Who You Are! You are the great I AM! Oh, how truly great You are! I love You. Selah.

Lord Jesus, may I pray comfort and peace and strength upon my friends, my family, my readers, my prayer sisters, and my Women Inseparable girls right now? Lord Jesus, may I pray wisdom and direction and surety upon Your pastors and missionaries this very moment?! Lord Jesus, may I pray for those who are spread abroad from city to city, from country to country, from house to house who are feeling the effects of various phrases and lock downs and regulations? Calm fear, I pray in the name of Jesus! Use proper anger for Your glory, I pray. Settle inappropriate emotions and reactions, Lord Jesus, I pray.

Father, there are words and truths and realities streaming throughout Your children scattered throughout your bountiful world. Please hear every one of them. Please make your presence known in each of their world’s today. Please be the Father You have always been. Be forever and always our Dad, our great I AM.

Father, thank you for the unexpected smile on my heart and on my face as I sit alone with You in a grocery store parking lot. Oh, how deeply I admire and love and cling to You!

Selah

Father,

I see hurting pastors and hurting pastor’s wives all around this world. I hear their prayer requests. Lord, you hear so much more than my small outreach. I know you hear them, for you called them. They are yours.

The realities of 2020 are hard on all of us. But they are weighing heavily on our pastors and their wives. God, in our heaviness, we rely on these leaders to fill us with truth and promise from the Word. We trust them with our prayer requests. We lean on them as our Pastor. As we should, for you called them to do just that.

With the weight of 2020 weighing each of us down, many pastors are feeling the weight of the world, quite literally. They are carrying the weight of the physical church AND of each person who makes up the body of believers within that church. That is so much to carry.

Many are doing this without an open pulpit to preach to us and without allowance to counsel us and without full freedom to do what they were called and equipped to do.

Oh, Lord, I cry to you this morning on behalf of pastors.

Lord, I ask that you will hear their prayers.

~ Hold their emotions.

~ Fill them with strength and courage and confidence and purpose.

~ Help them rise above the storm of this year.

~ Help them to stand on the wave that is crashing.

~ Help them to see and to know and to fully comprehend that Your will will be done.

Father, as you work out the plan of your mighty hand in holy response to the darkness all around, I pray simply and sweetly for those who answered the call to preach and to lead. Father, breathe on each of them the breath of life. Renew their spirit. Sharpen their call. Reset their program. And lead them down the path of righteousness their congregation needs to go.

And, Lord, send a friend (a sweet, trusting friend) to pastor wives. Lord, let them know in full assurance that they are not alone.

Amen.
