Let’s Pray for Our Prayer Life

Have you ever thought about praying for your prayer life? Will you consider asking God to help you grow in the areas you feel weak or insecure or doubtful when you pray? Will you join me in praying for your conversation with God Almighty…

Lord God, our prayer life seems so daunting at times. Other times it feels void, empty. God, there are times we dance on the mountain top in your presence then we turn around and feel like we are sitting in the mire in the midst of the valley. Why?

Why is prayer so hard at times? Lord God, may we ask you to help us to pray? Will you so graciously meet us, each of us, where we are and teach us to pray. Lord, we know The Lord’s Prayer. We know the Scriptures that draw us to pray without ceasing and to couple our prayers with Thanksgiving. But God, in all our knowing, we are missing something. What?

Holy Spirit?. Selah.

Spirit, will you pray with me today? Guide my heart to the words swarming in my head this very moment. Cause my thoughts to express the fullness of my heart’s cry. Selah.

Help me to be real.

Help me to pray in the emotion that is circling within this very moment.

Help me to carry my questions and my requests to the Father.

I struggle with finding the right words. Will you please silence my desire to pray “properly” or “correctly” and simply help me to talk to you, my God? Oh, that I will talk with familiarity and ease! That I may express my truths with trust that my Father is holding every word of mine in His heart. Selah.

Remind me that God cherishes me.

That He favors my vulnerability.

And that He promises to hear me.

Father God, thank you for hearing our words. You hear us when we speak. This amazes me. This draws my heart to songs of worship that You, the God of the mountain and the God of the valley, is purposing to be ever faithfully by my side in sweet, sweet conversation.

God, Three in One, how spoiled we are to be known by You! Oh, that we will begin our personal prayer time with You, remembering how connected we are in You! Thank you for pouring your love on us. Thank you for filling us with Your Spirit. Thank you for giving us the mind of Christ. Lord God, thank you.

Selah

Freedom In His Love ~ Week Six
(Never Forsaken)

Simple Truth

Love is a many splendored thing. 😉 Yet, love has broken us, left us, hurt us, or forsaken us at some point in our life. From our first pet to a parent. From puppy love to your spouse. Love has brought us pain.

Then we hear that God is love and that God loved the whole world and that He will never forsake us.

And we sit there trying to understand His infinite love via our human hurt. And we view God’s love through our personal experience. And we receive His love at arm’s reach as we protect ourselves from being hurt once again.

Because the idea of being hurt by God our creator is a pain too big to comprehend. Such immense devastation. A heartbreaking thought. So, we remain in our space beside His love rather than embraced by it.

Well, we think we do.

We think we have the ability to limit His love for us.

We think we are that big, that powerful.

Consider: Have you received God’s love given to you through the death and resurrection of His Son, Jesus Christ? Will you share your testimony of when you found His love?

Challenge: Write a letter from God to you. See (via your own words) if you view His love for you through His infinite love or through your human heart.

*Search Scripture if you need to learn more of His verbal love for you.

Final Thought

Psalm 118 proved to be a psalm of praise and beauty perfectly set for our study on finding Freedom In His Love. It is one that proclaims the very love of the Father, the personal love of David for His King, and a written testimony of the Savior’s most powerful gift, the gift of Salvation.

I encouraged each of us to spend time in Palm 118 in connection with Hebrews 13. May we see the vitality of the sacrifice of praise. May we understand the importance of offering our heart of worship to God. May we remember to set our eyes on the day the Lord had made. May we purpose to rejoice in the day of our Salvation. May we pause and breathe and be glad in it!

God loves you. God is with you. God will not walk away from you. God will not turn His back on you. He will not leave you or forsake you. He will not fail you. He is God. He calls you His. He loves you always and forever. God sees you. For God loves you.

Prayer for Churches

Lord God,

Father, I pray for churches this morning. I pray for the people that gather together within these buildings. I pray for the men who open your Word week after week. I pray for those who lead worship. I pray for those who love on and care for the babies, the children, and the teens. I pray for hands that clean. For feet that lead. For hearts that pour out. For the ones that pray. For the shoulders that carry the tears that are shed. I pray for the Women who love one another. For the men who hold each other in accountability. For The church that opens its doors for us to gather and Unite and love and live and serve and Worship and grow and stand. Oh, I pray for our churches!

Father, I pray for churches in light of lockdowns. God, this is gross and an abuse of power. Lord, I pray for confident wisdom for these preachers as they make the decision to stand on Biblical truth and American freedom. I pray for the staff of elders and deacons to uphold Scripture as they support and defend the choice to stand, to remain open, to proclaim Scripture, to live in the land of the free and in the home of the brave.

Father, I feel like I’m proclaiming my personal conviction in this prayer, and perhaps I am. But I pray you will take my prayer of personal conviction and pour it out upon the church that is in need of confirmation or encouragement or boldness or strength or comfort.

Lord, we are not called to sit. We are called to serve, to shine your Light in a darkened world. And when our world is setting a precident of fear and separation and silence and darkness and compliance, ugh, my whole heart hurts.

Father God, equip your saints for such a time as this. 2020 was confusing and odd. 2021 is going to prove to be a battle. I firmly believe this. In this, I pray that you will speak with each of your called pastors and leaders and teachers and men and women and youth and churches (your body of Christ) and prepare each and every one of us to know fully where we stand as Christians in today’s world. Tell us what is required of us that we may be ambassadors of the Kingdom of God to the dark world around us.

Lord, I pray these things in the leading of the Holy Spirit.

I pray these words will be cast before Your Throne.

I pray You will hear and respond according to Your will and in Your way.

I pray our hearts and ears will be open to Your leading.

I pray we will all walk in accordance to Your direction.

I pray we will not judge one another for our various actions and convictions.

Rather, I pray we will uphold and support one another knowing that our cities and our audiences and our impact vary.

I pray above all else that the name of Jesus Christ will shine brighter and farther than any of our words or actions or convictions ever could.

All these things are prayed in the sweet name of Jesus,

Forever and always Amen & Amen!
