Jesus. There is no other name.

Jesus.

All else falls silent.

Jesus.

A carpenter’s son, the son of Mary.

Brother to siblings who did not know, did not see, did not believe.

Jesus.

Water to wine, leprosy healed, blind to see, lame to walk, sins forgiven.

So much more than could be recorded.

Jesus.

Carried a cross, bore a shame, felt the sting, separated from His God.

Jesus.

Mary cried, John loved, Peter ran, Judas died, the thief and the soldier believed.

Jesus.

Cared for, cried over, anointed with myrrh, wrapped in cloth, laid in a tomb.

Sealed. Guarded. Alone. In the grave. Buried with sin. Battling hell.

Jesus.

The upper room, the disciples hide, emotions rage, faith wavers, fear evident.

Their leader, their teacher, their friend. Died just as he said. But what else did he say?

Jesus.

Discussions. Conversations. Debates. Silence. Waiting. Repeat.

Jesus.

Still there is a song yet to be sung.

Jesus.

**Matthew 27**

What Are You Waiting For?

The veil was beautiful but it’s no more

Father God, Unify My House

Lord, I am enamored with your teaching on the “Strongman’s house” of Matthew 12. “How can someone enter a strongman’s house and plunder his goods, unless he firsts binds the strong man?” (V. 29)

Lord, You’ve done the work. You’ve entered the house. You’ve bound the strong man. And, Lord Jesus, you have plundered the goods of the strongman. All in all, You have unified Your house through Your appearance in the flesh, through Your death on the cross, and finalizing it through Your resurrection.

The strongman has no place. None.

Father, we always hear that the world is Satan’s and that it is filled with his evil minions.

But Father, You created it. (Genesis 1)

Jesus saved it. (Matthew 27-28)

The Holy Spirit is actively present in it. (Acts 2)

And we are still alive.

  • We who are created by you, (Jeremiah 1:5)
  • saved by Jesus and (Romans 10:9-10)
  • filled with the Spirit. (Ephesians 1:13)

Sure, Satan may have a reference to being the prince of the power of the air (Ephesians 2:2), but we are referred to as heirs with Christ (Romans 8:17), the children of God (Romans 8:16), the ones filled with greater than what is in the world (1 John 4:4).

Oh, how I pray that we will see the world as loved and rescued by You. That we will participate as the called, the chosen, the unified. That we will blind the eyes of Satan with Your light freeing those around us from his attempted blinding by darkness.

Father, this world and all that is in it is YOURS!

Father God, I pray that You will unify my house.

Me and all who I love.

All that I love and all their people.

Their people and Your body of believers.

Your body of believers and all of whom You have created, loved, saved, and filled with Your Spirit!

Unify, Lord God Above, Your House!

Amen.

When you don’t know what to pray

Our United Voice of Prayer

A Prayer for Truth & Salvation

God, I read Matthew 23 just now. Your words spoken to your followers cause my heart to swell in its desire to be true to You.

Oh Lord my God, how much I admire your love for us!

Yet your words to those who lead others away from you through religious piety, cause me to scrunch my face and chuck judgment stones at them. This is my truth. May I pray in its place…

You are so bold in your Truth. You are so in love with your followers. And you are so disgusted with pharisaical hypocrisy.

Love speaks truth to its hearers. Oh, how you speak truth in this chapter!

Oh my God, that we will sit under your words of love that we refuse to follow the likes of eye-service behaviors. Father, I pray our adoration of your love will seep from our words and hands and feet this day.

I pray our hearts will be equal to yours. I pray our thoughts and prayers will be so intertwined that there is not a scale to measure our minutes in prayer, for we are in prayer all the day long.

Father, I pray I will love you in response to the love you bestowed first upon me.

Father, I pray the freedom of salvation will wash over the modern day pharisee today. I pray you will speak truth to their ears. I pray they will be strong enough to listen. I pray scales will be removed from their eyes. I pray they will be wise enough to see. I pray their feet will take a step closer to you. I pray they will be humble enough to draw nearer.

Oh, Jesus Christ, I pray your blood will wash free the soul bound by religious hypocrisy. I pray your resurrection will bring life to their dead theology. This prayer for salvation I lay at your feet.

In the name of Jesus Christ I pray,

Amen
