How to Fast

Last week, I wrote a post on Praying Deeper for Your Country. The post encouraged my readers to spend time in prayer and fasting for the country they love so dearly. The day in which we live needs the prayer and fasting of God’s people. Our world is facing a newness that is dark and deeply stifling. Heartaches and regulations and oppression and slavery are occurring throughout our world, nation to nation.

We need to pray.

We need to fast.

The question then arose, How?

The answer to How do I fast is simple.

1. Choose a day.

2. Choose a meal.

3. Choose a place.

Let’s say you chose Friday, breakfast, and your favorite reading chair. Which means, every Friday when hunger strikes or when the Lord whispers Pray upon your heart, you get on your knees beside your favorite reading chair and you pray for the matter on your heart. Every time. Repeat this intentional act of prayer each time hunger hits throughout your breakfast hours. Pray intentionally.

Fast for a set purpose and for a set period of time.

I feel compelled to say this…

Upon reading this email/blog post, dedicate the next hour to fasting for your country. Start right now. 🙂 Now is the moment to begin. And to begin with one hour.

Imagine if each of us purpose to dedicate one hour to fasting how quickly each day would be covered in united prayer and fasting? Imagine the power of prayer! Picture the mountains of dark deception being moved by the mighty hand of God!

We get to pray.

We get to fast.

We are the conduits the Holy Spirit desires to use. We are the only part of creation that has full access to the Throne of God. We are called and equipped and blessed with the ability to pray. Oh, that we will pray! That we will fast!

Our land needs us. Our freedom needs us. Our children need us. Our economy needs us. Our future needs us. Our present day in which we are living in today needs us to do our part in fighting for purity and holiness and freedom.

Our part as a child of God is to pray on our knees before the very One who loves us and gave His Son to die for us.

Prayer sister, in the name of our Resurrected Savior Jesus Christ, I ask you to join me in prayer and fasting … now.

Matthew 17:14-21,

Jaclyn
