What Day Is It?!

Father, I sit here amused as the vision of a proud talking camel cracks me up for the hundredth time. Happy Wednesday, some say. For my son, it is. Today he gets to go white water rafting with his youth group. Lord. You know my little mom prayers. I’m not anxious or nervous. I’m not scared or worried. I’m excited for him. Excited to hear his words of anticipation. “Last year was awesome! I can’t wait!!”

Normalcy. Life. Living.

My little girl self giggles for him, lives in his reality of living. My full-to-the-top adult self beams in the rays of … newness.

Father, I’ve been thinking a lot about generational “batons” since Friday’s post. Many conversations and much pondering since Friday. Lord, You make all things new. You love us individually. You are the break in history’s repeating of itself.

Yes, DNA is truth. Yes, generational prints are present. Yes, habitual life-patterns have its cost and price to pay.

But, you, Lord Jesus, saw that cost and paid that price and washed all things pure in your renewing blood.

I can testify. My life today is new from my life of old. My heart is pure from my past. My smile stands on the innocence of my child’s days. The simple Wednesday that includes rafting with his youth group.

You make all things new. Lord, that we never fail to see your Evidence in yesterday, in today, in the repetition, and in the fresh beginnings. May we, Father, proclaim today -with the pride of that gooberly exuberant camel- as Your Day.

May we walk in your newness. May we breathe in your peace. May we proclaim your praise. May we purpose to enjoy YOUR DAY as a gift given to us so that we may live.

Ah, Lord God, I love you.
